
People are frequently accused of becoming more reliant on technology as a result of artificial intelligence. However, it had the opposite effect on one man from Hyderabad. The father described in an X post how he and his son spent a weekend learning, developing, and creating a voice-controlled robotic arm from scratch with the aid of an AI helper.
The effort started, according to the father, when his kid brought an ambitious concept home ahead of his school’s tech fair.
“Last week, he came home and said, ‘I want to build a robot,'” he wrote.
The two concluded that creating a complete robot would be challenging with only a few days to prepare. Rather, they focused on developing a voice-activated robotic arm, which was an intriguing and feasible project.
Before using Claude, their AI assistant, to create 3D designs for the arm, they first looked to YouTube for inspiration. When the designs were complete, the parts were delivered home via Rapido after being 3D printed at a store in Tolichowki, Hyderabad.
They picked up the motors, semiconductors, capacitors, resistors, and wires required to complete the project at their next location, Koti.
Claude evolved from being merely a tool for design. The father claims that it assisted in writing the code, resolving technical issues, and making suggestions for enhancements along the way.
Using Claude Opus 5 and Fable, the two kept improving the idea, making little changes until the robotic arm functioned as planned.
The assembly didn’t start until after that. “And damn, it was fun,” he wrote, summarising what ended up being much more than a school assignment.

The father wrote that the weekend was full of learning, experimentation, and teamwork. “What began as a school project became a beautiful experience of learning, building, failing, fixing and spending time together,” he said, adding that AI did not take the place of education but rather inspired them to try something they might not have otherwise thought to do.
Many others found resonance in the message and applauded the father for utilising AI as a tool to learn alongside his son rather than as a quick fix. According to several, the narrative demonstrated how technology can stimulate creativity and problem-solving when utilised responsibly.
