Recently, exceptionally high rains in Kerala’s Wayanad district produced a huge landslip that tragically claimed several lives. The Indian army is still conducting rescue missions. A Kerala schoolboy expressed his gratitude to the Indian army during this time. He would never have imagined that the soldiers would read it and respond to it. However, they did, and it would be an utter understatement to say that the Indian army’s touching reaction has now gone viral.

Kerala schoolboy writes a letter of sincere appreciation to Indian Army Wayanad rescuers:

Consider a third-grader composing a letter of appreciation to the Indian army. It seems unbelievable. However, it did occur in Kerala’s Wayanad district, where a young man named Rayan sent an emotional letter to the army rescuers. It is unlikely that a third-class kid at AMLP School in the Wayanad region of Kerala would have thought his letter would receive a reply from the army.

As everyone knows, the area was recently ravaged by enormous landslides brought on by intense rains, trapping many people beneath the rubble. Rayan was moved by the Indian Army’s ceaseless attempts to preserve lives and felt obliged to thank the courageous troops who gave their lives to save others. Rayan wrote a letter in Malayalam expressing his pride at seeing the Army in action.

In his touching letter, Rayan wrote,

His statements conveyed his sincere admiration and gratitude for the soldiers’ courage and devotion. Not only that, but Rayan also expressed his desire to enlist in the military after watching a film in which soldiers were shown consuming cookies to stave off hunger while erecting a bridge in a disaster-affected area. He was profoundly affected by this sight and expressed his wish to enlist in the Indian Army to defend his country one day.

The Army’s Southern Command responded to X with a touching letter that the young child had written:

The message was posted on the Indian Army’s Southern Command’s official X profile, which was formerly Twitter. In it, they expressed their gratitude for the encouraging remarks and inspiration.

In their response, the Army wrote,

These words not only acknowledged Rayan’s gratitude but also highlighted the impact his letter had on the soldiers.
