Since the discovery of Raja Raghuvanshi’s lifeless body in a Meghlaya gorge, the town has been abuzz with speculation about his honeymoon murder case. Since his recently married wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, is the main suspect in the murder investigation, his death has rocked the country.

Sonam allegedly plotted the murder with the help of three hired attackers, Vishal Singh Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi, as well as her boyfriend, Raj Kushwala. However, a new name—Jitendra Raghuvanshi—has emerged in the murder mystery as the investigation goes on, adding a fresh dimension.

Jitendra Raghuvanshi is who?

Nearly every day brings new information to light in the ongoing investigation of the honeymoon murder case. The case is currently taking a fresh turn because of Jitendra Raghuvanshi’s name. Five people have been taken into custody by the Meghalaya Police thus far.

The five defendants were transported to Meghalaya on June 11, 2025, and were remanded to police detention for eight days. According to reports, Sonam Raghuvanshi utilised the Jitendra Raghuvanshi account to finance the initial payments to the hitmen hired to assassinate Raja on May 23, 2025.

When asked about Jitendra’s identity, Sonam’s brother Govind told the reporters that Jitendra was their maternal cousin. Govind further revealed that Jitendra was used to open Sonam Raghuvanshi’s UPI account.

Since it was discovered that her family’s firm has purported Hawala ties, Jitendra’s name has now cast doubt on Sonam’s ability to complete the transactions via the Hawala channel.

The New Indian Express said that Sonam’s brother has refuted the allegations of a connection to Hawala. He did admit, though, that Jitendra was a lower-level worker at their family’s plywood company. According to him, their money was in Jitendra’s account and was utilised for routine transactions. He was cited as stating,

Govind, the brother of Sonam Raghuvanshi, paid Raja’s family a visit in Indore and offered consolation to the bereaved family. He also expressed regret for his sister’s alleged role in Raja’s murder. Additionally, Govind disclosed that his family has severed all connections with Sonam and that he also thinks Sonam was responsible for the murder. Additionally, he stated that they would aid Raja’s family in their pursuit of justice. He stated,
