Miss Universe began as a marketing ploy by a California-based firm in 1952 and has since grown to become one of the most-watched pageants in the world. There have been 68 Miss Universe winners so far. The Miss Universe winner from 1997 (point 6 in this article) was the oldest, and the winner from 2001 (point 7 in this article) landed a role in Aquaman.
