Heeramandi’s Shruti Sharma opens up about her experience of working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali
Shruti Sharma recently talked about her experience working with renowned filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar in an interview with Entertainment Live. In terms of Saima’s function, she is regarded as “Alamzeb” (Sharmin Segal), the daughter of “Mallikajaan” (Manisha Koirala), and she serves as her maid. Nevertheless, the showrunner did a fantastic job of portraying each character, and even though Shruti was only shown as a maid, she was given enough screen time. Her beautiful voice was seen captivating listeners, and the series had a strong display of her romantic side as well as her willingness to make sacrifices for her master.
Shruti mentions how a romantic scene in Heeramandi was harsh on her
During that same conversation, Shruti expressed her satisfaction with her collaboration with Sanjay. She was then questioned about the intimate scene in which she and Rajat Kaul, who portrayed Mallikajaan’s cart driver, Iqbal, shared. In the scenario, they talk and develop a love interest in each other. But they had to roll on a cart full of dry hay grass, and the whole affair took place in a horse barn.
“There is a scene involving me and Iqbal in which we are romantic, meaning its a very romantic scene. That type of romance I had done for the first time on the screen. We were rolling and we were talking, and you know it was difficult choreography, we were on top of each other. I got rashes on my body because it was so harsh. I think we shot that scene for on whole day and when that scene got over, my kajal was smudged because there was dust and dirt. But the scene looks so beautiful.”
Shruti once supported Sanjay Leela Bhansali for showing the clandestine affair between her and her on-screen lover
For those who are unaware, Shruti and Rajat were also shown engaging in a covert relationship throughout the series. At the horse shed, Shruti woos her on-screen lover in that specific moment. But when asked about it in a Pinkvilla interview, Shruti defended Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s decision to keep the sequence in place. To elaborate, she had stated:
“If Sanjay sir has decided something, he is wise enough to choose his actors. I’m sure it is quite well thought out. You can’t question his vision. He has given history to Indian cinema. It is Sanjay Sir that we’re talking about.”
