When Sonu, a Zomato delivery driver, showed up to pick up an order at a Starbucks location in Khan Market, New Delhi, accompanied by his two-year-old daughter, he attracted the attention of both employees and patrons. Many who saw Sonu’s single-parental circumstances were moved by his balancing his employment duties and his little child’s needs.

The store manager, Devendra Mehra, posted Sonu’s narrative on LinkedIn, noting,

“Today, a Zomato delivery boy came to our store, Starbucks Khan Market, New Delhi, to pick up an order, and he touched our hearts. Despite the challenges he faces at home, he continues to work hard while caring for his little 2-year-old daughter, who was with him during work. He is a single parent raising his daughter. Seeing his dedication and love for his child was truly inspiring.”

The Starbucks staff kindly handed Sonu’s daughter a babyccino, a warm milk-based beverage designed with young palates in mind.

“We were honored to offer her a small treat of babyccino, hoping to bring a little smile to her face. It reminded us of the strength and resilience of the human spirit, even in difficult times. We wish him and his daughter all the best and are grateful for the small moments that remind us of the kindness and empathy that connect us all,”

Mehra continued.

The LinkedIn article gained a lot of attention as soon as people started praising Sonu.

One user proposed starting a fundraising campaign to pay for his daughter’s schooling, promising to be the first to donate.

A other user, a café owner, complimented Sonu on his dedication to his job and his role as a devoted father, describing his narrative as an example of the human spirit’s tenacity. In a world where everyone may be anything, a third user highlighted the value of compassion by commenting, “Always choose to be kind.”

In response to the message, Zomato also said how much they appreciated Sonu’s commitment.
