Social media is furious when Swiggy Instamart was accused of providing vegetables that were noticeably lighter than promised. When a Reddit user chose to weigh the veggies he received through Swiggy Instamart using a weighing scale, the underweight delivery were made public.
What the consumer discovered on Swiggy Instamart
When the customer discovered that the cauliflower he had gotten weighed only 145 grammes, he was taken aback. The Swiggy app indicated that the veggie weighed between 400 and 600 grammes.
I had to verify the weight of every vegetable because of the cauliflower. “The majority of the vegetables were underweight,” he stated in his Reddit post, accusing Swiggy of being a scammer. He claimed to have observed weight variations in every vegetable he had received.
Subsequent testing showed that he had received 170 grammes of capsicum instead of the 250 grammes he had purchased, and only 965 grammes of potatoes instead of the 1 kilogramme he had requested. After paying for 1.8 kg of vegetables, the buyer ultimately only received 1.2 kg.
Instamart Swiggy’s response:
The customer received a subpar answer when he brought up the matter with Swiggy’s customer service.
The user requested a replacement or a complete refund of ₹177 after sending Swiggy’s support staff images of his weighing scale. Screenshots of his conversations with customer service representatives reveal that Swiggy Instamart offered ₹89 in compensation rather than a complete refund.
Other Swiggy Instamart staff likewise attempted to provide a partial refund, therefore attempting to escalate the matter also failed.
The client said in his post that both the Swiggy escalation team and support staff were “shameless.” Finally, the irate client “mailed my bank to reverse credit the amount and reported the issue to the government’s Ingram consumer helpline.”
Swiggy has been contacted by HT.com, and this copy will be updated upon hearing back.
“Untrustworthy, deceptive tactics”
Numerous Swiggy Instamart customers were incensed by the post on Reddit, accusing the corporation of deceiving them. Some claimed that it was a pattern with Swiggy rather than a “innocent” mistake.
This isn’t about the reimbursement; rather, it’s about Swiggy’s persistently dishonest and deceptive tactics. Consider how many orders they deliver each day and how frequently they bring items that are lighter than what is stated on the tags. One Reddit member said, “It’s not some innocent mistake; it’s a system,” and Swiggy is “probably raking in crores every single day from these small errors.”
“My scale is digital. received underweight merchandise. The same thing happened; I accepted a 50% refund. Then it occurred to me: what about those without a scale? How common is this practice? Someone else enquired.
