When scrolling at the flawless photos fitness models share on their social media pages, many of us get hypnotized. We equate ourselves to them, whether we want to or not, always feeling bad for eating fast food or hitting the gym less than they do. However, it turns out that there is a whole list of tricks used by Instagram models to make us think that they know how to get the perfect body.

1. Their photographs may have been altered.

By sharing her unedited photographs, Karina Irby, a bikini model, and designer, promotes body positivity. She shares collages showing the differences between an actual body and a photoshopped one now and then. I think it’s so important to keep educating people on social media to remember that sometimes it does not always look like it is.

Many fitness models cheat by sharing their retouched images on social media pages, comparing their followers to “perfect” individuals. Recently, the movement for unedited photographs depicting individuals the way they are has gained attention. Body-positive models inspire self-love and acceptance and strive to teach people the value of loving yourself the way you are.

2. All the difference is rendered by the poses and angles.

Ideal photos shared by fitness models are carefully chosen, even though at first glance it does not appear that way. By sharing a collage of photographs taken 2 minutes apart, trainer Jen Widerstorm proved this. She sits in one portion of the college and her stomach appears to roll over her pants, while she stands in the other portion and her stomach looks fine. “When we sit, we all look like this.

3. They work hard on their “spontaneous” photos.

Rebecca Pearson made headlines when she admitted that she was purposely building the picture of a perfect life to get a job on Instagram. She disclosed the truth about some of her famous snapshots. One of these images shows Rebecca jumping randomly, but it really took half an hour and 300 hours for her boyfriend to get the perfect “spontaneous” snap.

4. They will lie about their shape being perfect.

Another image of Rebecca shows her sitting on a chair, spreading her leg and revealing the ripped abs of her ideal belly. However, the fact is that she never had a toned stomach, and her posture and the lighting were all about it. Never mind I don’t even have a 1-pack, this was gold from Instagram! Predictably, I got loads of likes and comments like ‘ABS GIRL! as so many people like a #fitspiration tag. And ‘WASHBOARD,’ which made me feel a little guilty,’ Rebecca admitted.

5. Their drinks for detox could be faked.

Fitness models share lots of “healthy superfood” photos that they consume to look perfect and we always buy them. The reality is that they can just post it, but they can also fake those superfoods, they can never really eat or drink them. This is true of a healthy smoothie composed of rhubarb, leaves of beetroot, parsnip, and kale. I heaved it down the sink after taking 2 sips and had to make do with peanut butter on toast and some chocolate for dinner, a not-so-aspiring meal I didn’t advertise,” said Rebecca Pearson, a model who posted this on her Instagram account.”

6. Actually, they do not work out as they tell you they do.

Posting photos of their workouts that do not really take place is another form of cheating used by fitness models. As a fun post, I wanted to get a shot of myself doing yoga, Dostoevsky in hand, with the hashtag #dostoyflexy,” the model confessed.” On that day, I didn’t do any workout (nor did I ever smile like this while reading the book), I just put on the training equipment for the 5 minutes it took to take the photo.

7. Their “ideal” pictures only display their life’s chosen moments.

When we look at the Instagram accounts of the models, their bodies and lives seem perfect in general. However, we should note that what we see is only a series of carefully selected photographs showing only one side of their lives (the most attractive). “Me 1% of the time vs 99% of the time. And I equally love both pictures. Good or poor angles do not affect your worth,’ says Anna Victoria, a personal trainer, in a caption to the photo showing her body at various moments looking different.

8. They might just be slim naturally.

Although some models share photos of green salads and healthy smoothies, others tend to expose themselves now and then to eat fast food to prove that all those sweet and unhealthy foods can be eaten and remain slim. And if they manage to stay in decent shape, eating hamburgers or pizza regularly, that doesn’t mean that this trick is going to work for the rest of us.

We are all different, we have different types of bodies and metabolisms, and it might be simpler for certain people to mix perfect bodies with consuming whatever they want, only because it can be controlled by their body.

Don’t compare, love and value yourself with others, and be clear about the examples you follow.
