A weary quarry worker in Hanumakonda, Telangana, dipped into a pond to unwind and passed out. Locals thought he was dead when they saw him drifting still for hours. After alerting authorities and emergency services, the man recovered consciousness and disclosed that he was exhausted from working 12-hour shifts. On Monday, residents of Hanumakonda’s Reddypuram Kovelakunta were shocked to see what looked to be a dead body floating in the neighbourhood pond.
From 7 am to 12 pm, the man identified as a quarry worker from Kavali in the Nellore District was observed standing still in the water. Kakatiya University police and emergency medical services were promptly informed by startled residents.

When authorities arrived, they assumed the man was dead. But much to their surprise, he became conscious again. The man told authorities that he had been working 12-hour hours in a granite quarry for the previous ten days while being quite drunk. Tired, he went to the pond to cool down and unintentionally dozed off in the water. Authorities and locals were both relieved and perplexed by this strange episode.
