These days, we would never consider taking a photo without applying the appropriate filter. Vintage photographs from the days before filters and photoshop have a particular place in people’s hearts. There was no method to alter the images at the time to make them look thinner or give them larger lips. But the images were stunning because they were genuine and hadn’t been significantly altered to become what the public wanted to see.
In reality, the cinematography, picture quality, editing, and graphics in the Bollywood industry today have greatly improved. These days, it is quite challenging to distinguish between the real world and the virtual one, and because things are changing so quickly, it is becoming hard for us to keep up.
Film images have a certain quality that smartphones and digital cameras cannot replicate. Their dynamic range is greater. The whites and blacks in photographs are better captured in the film than they can be with modern digital cameras. In truth, digital photography actually loses a lot of fine details that films can.
The small focussing and exposure faults that come with digital photography are also more forgivable with film. A film still is a picture that was taken on or off the set of a movie or television show as it was being made (sometimes even a publicity still or a production still).
