But as a food blogger who recently tried to invite him to an event found out, his newfound popularity comes at a high cost.
The food blogger, AK Food Vlog, talked about the expenses of bringing Dolly Chaiwala to Kuwait for a performance in an Instagram post about his experience. The blogger remarked in the video how surprised he was by Dolly’s team’s demands.
“The demands were too much for me to ignore when I wanted to welcome Dolly Chaiwala to Kuwait. For a single day, he charges 2,000 dinars or almost 5 lakh rupees. This entails having a companion, and reserving a 4- or 5-star hotel, among other prerequisites,” the writer revealed.
The video has had over 18.7 million views since it was uploaded, and the comments area has become quite heated. Some viewers chastised the writer for his response, but others supported Dolly Chaiwala’s right to demand what he feels is rightfully his. Some commented, “He deserves it,” while another said, “Asking for a 4-5 star hotel is not even a demand, it’s basic courtesy when you invite someone from their country.” Why wouldn’t he charge more if influencers with millions of followers did?”
Dolly Chaiwala’s net worth is reportedly more than Rs. 10 lakh. He makes between Rs. 2,450 and Rs. 3,500 a day selling an astounding 350 to 500 cups of tea, even though each cup costs just Rs. 7.
The story of Dolly Chaiwala’s meteoric ascent to fame started in February when Bill Gates travelled to India and posted a video of himself drinking tea prepared by Dolly in Hyderabad on Instagram. “One chai, please,” is heard Gates requesting in the video, and Dolly Chaiwala is shown making the tea in his distinctive manner. After showing Gates sipping tea and saying, “Looking forward to many chai pe charcha,” the video went viral very fast.
Dolly Chaiwala discussed his contact with Gates with ANI after arriving back in Nagpur, acknowledging that he was unaware of the person he was working for. “I had no idea. “I should serve him tea since I assumed he was just a foreign guy,” Dolly remarked. And he exclaimed, ‘Wow, Dolly ki Chai.'” We didn’t talk much because I was working and he was standing next to me. I think of myself as “Nagpur ka Dolly Chaiwala” now. I hope to serve Prime Minister Narendra Modi tea in the future.”
