Power of Lord Vishnu
Lord Vishnu assumes the role of the sustainer of the universe. Entrusted with the religious duty of safeguarding the celestial order, Lord Vishnu ensures the flourishing and prosperity of creation. His divine presence embodies compassion and serves as the stabilizing force that maintains the delicate balance protecting the universe from plunging into chaos.
Because of his many divine attributes, Lord Vishnu is unstoppable and incredibly strong. His figure exudes elegance and grace. He is fully aware of everything and has simultaneous comprehension of the past, present, and future. The entire cosmos is filled with the divine presence of Lord Vishnu, who is omnipresent.

Lord Vishnu’s Defeat by Lord Shiva
According to a tale from the Shatarudra Samhita in the Shiva Purana, Lord Vishnu assumed the guise of Mohini following the Samudra Manthan (churning of the ocean) and acquired the nectar from demons. While most demons were vanquished by the Gods who consumed the nectar, celestial nymphs were born from stray nectar drops and were exceptionally beautiful. The surviving demons abducted these nymphs and sought refuge in the patal (netherworld).
In pursuit, Lord Vishnu tracked them down, but upon encountering the mesmerizing damsels, he was entranced by their extraordinary beauty. Through his interactions with them, Lord Vishnu fathered sons who, being valiant and skilled in various forms of warfare, began troubling the three worlds.
Anxious, the Gods sought a resolution from Lord Brahma, who then led them to Lord Shiva. They beseeched Lord Shiva to intervene and put an end to the havoc caused by Lord Vishnu’s sons. In response, Lord Shiva assumed the form of a divine bull.
The resounding bellow of the bull caused the netherworld to crumble. Lord Vishnu’s proud sons attacked the bull, but it retaliated by kicking them with hooves and tearing them apart with its horns.
Upon learning of the demise of his sons, Lord Vishnu was consumed by fury. Unaware of Lord Shiva’s identity in the form of the bull, he launched arrows and weapons at it to no avail. Eventually, the bull leapt up and gored Lord Vishnu with its horns, settling the question of who could defeat Lord Vishnu.
Following this, Lord Vishnu emerged from his delusion, recognizing Lord Shiva. He humbly apologized for his actions and returned to Vaikuntha.
Who can defeat Lord Vishnu? – Charpatinath defeats Lord Vishnu
Navnath Bhaktisar stands as a revered text that exalts the Navnath deities, portraying them as surpassing the might of the Hindu Trinity. Within its pages, a tale unfolds where one of the Navnaths triumphs over Lord Vishnu. In this narrative, Charpatinath, when besieged by heavenly soldiers, emerges victorious against all odds. Even when other gods, dispatched by Lord Indra, confront Charpatinath, they too are vanquished.
Faced with defeat, Lord Vishnu turns to Lord Shiva for aid, only to experience another setback at the hands of the Navnath. In an attempt to subdue the yogi, Lord Vishnu deploys his Sudarshana Chakra, yet the yogi neutralizes it with sacred ash. Seizing the opportunity, the yogi halts the god’s breath and employs the Vatakarshana Vidya against Lord Vishnu. Pippalayan intervenes, rescuing Lord Vishnu and the other gods.
Lord Vishnu’s Subjugation by Nigas
A boon granted by Lord Brahma to the devoted demon Nigas allows him to swallow anyone at will. In a tale illustrating this, Nigas engulfs Lord Vishnu during his Yoga Nidra, aiming to leave only Lord Shiva.
Virabhadra’s Triumph over Lord Vishnu
As per the Shiva Purana, Lord Shiva dispatches Virabhadra to disrupt Daksha’s yajna and slay him following the self-immolation of Goddess Sati. Daksha, having received Lord Vishnu’s protection, engages in a deliberate defeat to enable Virabhadra to fulfil his mission.
