A plant owner who has been committed to watering her supposedly ideal succulent for two years has discovered it has been fake all along. The woman revealed that she kept her green-coloured plant alive for 2years in the kitchen window, and would clean the leaves daily.

But after learning about the plant she loved she was shocked and scared for turned out to be plastic reaching a consensus to repot the ideal succulent.

A devoted plant owner who watered her Perfect Succulent for two years acknowledged it was fake.

‘I have had this lovely succulent for about two years and I was so proud of the plant. It was all full, has beautiful colouring and was a perfect plant overall.”

‘I had a watering schedule for it and if someone else tried to water my succulent, I would become defensive because I just wanted to take good care of it myself. I was in love with my sweetheart.’ The wife explained on Facebook.

I decided it was time to do a transplant and then I found the cutest vase that perfectly suited it. I pulled it off the original container with which it was purchased, only to discover that the plant was fake. I put a lot of effort into the plant, and washed its leaves.’ added the woman.

Internet users pointed out how the plant looked clearly fake while a few said they were fooled by the perfect-looking succulent.

The woman admitted that on finding out the succulent attached to the Styrofoam plant with sand was stuck to the top she made the discovery.

She continued:’ I tried my best to make it look its best but it’s all plastic. How didn’t I know? I feel like I’ve been lying to this for two years.’

Numerous internet users reposted in an Australian Indoor Plant Community reported similar experiences with artificial plants. A few immediately pointed out how obvious the plant looked fake while others said the perfect-looking succulent fooled them.

One horticultural hornswoggler wrote, “My friend at work constantly kills the plants since she doesn’t water them, so I put a phoney one in the café.” Before I told her it was phoney, she had watered the plant for a month.

Some social media snoopers, though, lacked sympathy.

How is it possible to take great care of a “plant” for two years and not realise that it hasn’t changed colour or grown a single millimetre? One Facebook commentator gave Wilkes’ post some thought.

Another wrote,

“This happened to me too..a friend was leaving the country and said did I want her favourite plant..she didn’t tell me it was plastic..it looked so real..obviously realized when it looked exactly the same after a couple of months lol.”

One user said,

“I bought a cactus with this super cute flower on top. To me 2 or 3 weeks of marvelling at home long that single bloom was lasting to realize it was a fake flower!!! I felt so tricked. They had seriously hot glued a fake flower to the top of a live plant!”
