Cecilia-Joy Adamou is a woman who has numerous pride scars from her war victories. She is a 22-year-old Surrey content creator who enjoys sharing her medical journey and experiences in order to raise awareness about scar positivity.
She used TikTok to reveal three odd features of her post-surgery body.
Cecilia was born with a left atrial isomerism and an atrioventricular septal defect. At the ages of six months and two years, she had two surgeries. But they barely lasted her six years, as she suffered a heart arrest in April 2020, followed by another in September 2020, following a difficult 12-hour surgery.
However, she was fortunate enough to find a heart donor 11 years ago and received the heart of a 45-year-old man.
Her ordeal didn’t finish there; she developed kidney failure and was given a kidney by her mother. She also had nerve damage in her feet, which necessitated surgery. Then, in 2014, her immunosuppressant medications caused two brain tumours and two more in her spine.
Her condition has improved significantly, and she frequently speaks about her life as a survivor of a heart transplant.
“I had a heart from this thing, this figure,” she explained, “but I learnt his name and his family.” “He liked collecting things, which is strange because I’ve always liked collecting things; he collected stamps, and I used to collect dolls when I was younger.”
