Recently, a Zomato user discovered a significant pricing difference between ordering meals through the app and from Chennai’s Murugan Idli Shop directly. Six pieces of Idli are priced Rs 198 on Zomato, however, the eatery only charged Rs 132, according to the user’s post. On Zomato, two Ghee Podi Idlis cost Rs 132, however in the restaurant, they only cost Rs 88. The Mysore Masala Dosa was only Rs 181 straight from the restaurant, whereas the Chettinad Masala Dosa was Rs 260 on Zomato but Rs 132 at the restaurant.

The entire cost, including tax, was Rs 987 when purchasing from Zomato, whereas ordering straight from the restaurant only cost Rs 803, showing a Rs 184 price differential for the same food items when ordering offline.
