One of the oldest beauty competitions in the world is Miss World. A British advertising agent named Eric Morley founded it in 1951. Initially, it was designed as a one-off event, but it proved to be so successful that it became an annual event.

Susana Duijm, Venezuela

Venezuela holds the record for having won the award for Miss World. All in all, this country’s leaders have won six times in total, and Susana was the first of them to do so. She has been able to start an acting career and work as a TV presenter thanks to this tag.

Penelope Coelen, South Africa

This 18-year-old teen, who worked as a clerk, enraptured the audience and became South Africa’s first competition winner. She returned to South Africa later on, got married, and has been a high society lady ever since. She has 5 sons and 3 grandsons. Coelen is involved in photography and is a beauty salon director. A form of a rose, the Rosa Penny Coelen, was named after her.

Ann Sidney, United Kingdom

The second delegate from her country to win the Miss World competition was Ann Sidney. Ann played a variety of minor roles on television after her victory, including in The Avengers and Are You Being Served? She also starred in You Only Live Twice, a James Bond movie.

Madeline Hartog-Bel, Peru

Madeline lived in Paris, and later in southern Florida, after her win in the contest. She got married there and gave birth to a daughter.

Jennifer started working for Air Canada a year after winning the competition, married, moved to Bermuda, and later to Canada, where she graduated from university and became a psychotherapist. She’s got two kids and five grandkids.

Yet another UK representative who has conquered the most coveted beauty title in the world. The win of Sarah-Jane Hutt so angered the other contestants that they were bold enough to question the jury’s decision, and one even declined to attend the “coronation.” ball in honor of Miss World.

Not only is Linda the beauty queen, but she is also a strong businesswoman. She ran her own spa business over the course of 20 years, wrote an autobiography, and took part in the Miss World competition again in 2015 – this time as a member of the jury.

Ksenia has been invited on several occasions to be a member of the jury at both the Miss World and Mr. World competitions, and she served as one of the judges responsible for asking the contestants questions in 2016.

Megan Young, an actress, model, and TV host, was the first representative from the Philippines to win the title of Miss World. She was born into a mixed family in the United States (her father is American, her mom is Filipino). Her family moved to the Philippines, where she completed her schooling and chose to pursue a television career.

Rolene Strauss, the model, became the third person from her native South Africa to win the Miss World award. Rolene became involved in modeling from a young age after she saw the coronation of a previous South African Miss World in 2000 at the age of 8. Rolene likes to play golf and knows how to play the flute and the guitar as well.
