Because they provide quick and easy delivery for everyday necessities, quick commerce services have become a lifeline for many. It would be incorrect, though, to assert that they are entirely trustworthy and devoid of inconsistencies. A Blinkit client recently posted on social media about receiving grapes that weren’t the same weight. As soon as the post got viral, Blinkit had to reply.
The customer posted on Reddit about the weight mismatch they experienced with their Blinkit shipment.

Recently, a Blinkit user brought attention to a problem with their order on the social media site Reddit. The consumer mentioned that they received a packet of grapes that felt substantially lighter than the 600 grammes they had ordered from the fast commerce site. They weighed the packet out of curiosity regarding the weight discrepancy and found that, with the wrapping, it weighed only 370 grammes. The consumer initially chose to overlook it since they thought it was a one-time mistake.
“Ordered grapes from Blinkit a couple of weeks back and the packet received felt suspiciously lighter. Weighed it to realise it was only 370 gms. I let it go thinking of it as a one off error.”
But a few weeks later, the identical problem again. This time, the buyer received only 395 grammes of grapes, including packaging, although they had bought a half-kilogram (500 grammes) packet.
“To my surprise the same thing happened again yesterday. The half kg package of grapes weighed only 395gms (including the weight of packaging).”
It’s interesting to note that the user mentioned that they seen such disparities in the past. They reported getting cheaper fruits and vegetables in place of the ordered items and open cartons of cat food with missing pouches.
“We’ve had similar issues in the past with respect to both quantity and quality of what was delivered. (Received open cat food boxes with a few pouches missing, cheaper fruits n vegetables instead of the ones ordered, overpriced products etc.)”
Anyone would consider this to be a scam, and this customer was no exception. All of this gave the impression that these problems were not coincidental but rather the result of a conscious effort to deceive clients. They warned others not to blindly trust Blinkit, to be wary, and to double-check their instructions in their post.
“I feel this isn’t by accident but a rather thought out way to scam customers. Pls use blinkit only if absolutely necessary and double check everything to ensure you are not being scammed.”
The Reddit thread immediately became popular, igniting user debates and ultimately bringing the issue to Blinkit’s notice.
