We’re used to seeing our favorite Bollywood stars with a slim waist and a body that’s practically fat-free. While snacking on a bag of chips, we often adore them and think to ourselves, “I wish I had a figure like her/him.” Do we ever consider how they appeared in the past? Were they always so well cared for, or did it happen because they wanted it to?
Here’s a list of Bollywood stars whose weight-loss transformations astounded us:
1. Zareen Khan
Zareen Khan, commonly known as Zarine Khan, is an Indian actress who is best known for her performance in Hate Story 3: Veer (2010). She primarily works in Hindi films, but has also acted in Tamil and Telugu films. Zareen Khan talks about how she was body-shamed in the Bollywood profession when she initially started out since she weighed almost 100kgs. But, thanks to her diets, workouts, and yoga, she’s now down to 57kg. Isn’t it inspiring?
2. Ganesh Acharya
Yes! Gopi from the film Any Body Can Dance, one of our favourites, is also on the list. Ganesh Acharya is a well-known Bollywood choreographer who is well recognised for his work on the films Singham and Bodygaurd. Acharya shocked everyone when he revealed that he shed 98kgs by simply following a regular regimen in which he eats from 12pm to 8pm and nothing after that.
3. Parineeti Chopra
Parineeti Chopra, the actress in The Girl on the Train, was formerly severely overweight, and her first film, Kill Dil, which was released in 2014, failed to make an impact in the business. Chopra then recognised that a 26-year-old girl shouldn’t be this big, and she set out to lose weight and get in shape in two years.
4. Alia Bhatt
Our spunky Shanaya from Student of the Year was told she needed to lose 20 pounds before she could begin filming. Alia accepted the challenge, kept herself motivated every day, and reduced nearly 16 kilogrammes in just six months. Alia has also appeared in films such as Gully Boy, Dear Zindagi, Raazi, and many others. She now eats a very balanced and mindful diet, having discovered healthier alternatives to the junk food she used to adore.
5. Sonakshi Sinha
Back when she was 18, the famous Dabangg girl was so overweight that she began huffing while attempting to run on a treadmill for more than 30 seconds. She was tormented at school for being overweight, but she eventually learned to love herself. Despite her love of eating, she has eliminated all junk food from her diet, and the one cheat meal she allows herself is pizza. From being unable to run on a treadmill to proudly flaunting her figure, she has come a long way. Sonakshi is a true role model for many young women who struggle with body image concerns.
6. Arjun Kapoor
Arjun Kapoor, who co-stars with Alia Bhatt in the film 2 States, admits that losing 50 pounds took him three years. Unlike other Bollywood stars, Kapoor wasn’t always toned and muscular; he worked hard to achieve his current physique. That might be a major source of motivation.
7. Sara Ali Khan
Sara has had a significant impact on the Bollywood business, from Kedarnath to Simmba. She astounded everyone not only with her incredible acting abilities, but also with her incredible metamorphosis. Sara found it challenging to maintain her weight after being diagnosed with PCOS. Sara says in an interview, “We may talk about acceptance and equality, but you won’t watch a movie with a lead heroine who weighs 96 kilogrammes.” Sara has gone from 98kgs to a starring actress with a toned physique, proving that even PCOS wasn’t an impediment to her weight loss.
8. Bhumi Pednekar
In the film Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Bhumi shared the screen alongside Ayushmann Khurrana. Bhumi appeared to be overweight in that film. Without giving up her favourite foods or adhering to strenuous fitness regimens. All she did was stick to a really healthy and natural routine that included smoothies, kale, and aloe-vera juice, among other things.
If you’re dealing with body image issues or anything else that makes you feel sad and socially nervous, it’s time to look to your favourite celebrities for inspiration. Get up and start working out right now; it’s better late than never. Good luck.
