Neena Gupta revealed an interesting tale from the film in her book, Sach Kahoon Toh: Meri Aatmkatha.
“I knew the music was catchy as soon as I heard it. However, when Subhash Ghai told me what my role would be, I became less enthusiastic. I enjoyed that my part was sung by my friend Ila Arun, with whom I had previously appeared in several films. But I was unable to complete the task.”

She felt humiliated.

She said, “Explaining what transpired behind the scenes,” “They dressed me up as a tribal Gujarati and presented me to Subhash Ghai for approval. ‘No! No! No I was completely humiliated. He was referring to my choli, in my perspective, and saying that it needed to be filled. I knew it wasn’t anything personal. For the rendition, he had envisioned something… larger. That day, I didn’t shoot. But the next day, I was dressed differently and wore a br-a with a lot of padding, and he appeared satisfied. Subhash Ghai was a great filmmaker because he was so specific about what he desired.

Neena had previously spoken about working on the song with the late Saroj Khan.
