A thousand-mile trip begins with a single step. That is true of many large corporations, whose founders never imagined they would end up establishing anything so large.

Here are some photos from back when their offices were little but their goals were big.

1. Apple 

Apple 1, commonly known as Apple Computer 1, was the company’s first computer, created by Steve Wozniak by hand in 1976. Later, he was joined by Steve Jobs, who suggested they market the computer. After that, the rest is history.

2. Microsoft

This photo was taken in 1980, shortly after Bill Gates and Paul Allen signed a momentous contract with IBM that would propel their firm to new heights. Gtes was 25 years old at the time, and the company had been in operation for 5 years.

3. Adobe Systems

In 1982, Charles Geschke and John Warnock founded Adobe in the latter’s garage. Surprisingly, the company takes its name from a creek that runs alongside Warnock’s home in California. This photograph dates back to the company’s inception.

4. Samsung

This is one of Samsung’s early headquarters, which was established in 1938. They are today synonymous with phones, but in the 1930s, they were known for creating noodles before branching out into other industries such as textiles, insurance, and so on. They first dabbled in electronics in the 1960s and have never looked back.

5. Google 

Google was planned to be a research project when it was founded in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Google is derived from the phrase ‘googol,’ which means one followed by a hundred zeros. The term was intended to convey the fact that Google can provide a wealth of information.

6. Yahoo

There was Yahoo before Google, despite their launch dates are practically identical. Jerry Yang and David Filo founded Yahoo, which stands for ‘Yet Another Hierarchically Organized Oracle.’

7. Facebook

In 2005, Mark Zuckerberg, Dustin Moskovitz, and Sean Parker were photographed in one of Facebook’s initial offices. The textile company was the TATA group’s first major investment, and it was a significant risk because the office was located in Nagpur rather than Mumbai. However, it turned out to be a wise move. This photograph dates from circa 1874.
