The dapper charmer Ranbir Kapoor can carry off a romantic comedy like Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar even in his forties. Following his role alongside three Bollywood Divas in Bachna Ae Haseeno, he became the most sought-after star. He later starred in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, becoming the most eligible bachelor on TV. He was the obvious choice for Dil Dhadakne Do too because of his captivating personality, but he chose to turn down the opportunity.
When he was younger, he was given another romantic comedy, but he established his reputation with these pictures. The movie’s actress served as the sole hook. A romantic comedy starring Sonakshi Sinha was proposed to RK. He expressed his misgivings to the producers, nevertheless, as he was not quite sold on the actress.
According to a 2012 report by Bollywood Life, Ranbir Kapoor believed that Sonakshi Sinha was not the right partner for him and that the actress would appear older to him on television. The producers, however, were adamant that Sonakshi would feature in the movie.
At the time, Sona was also cast alongside Imran Khan in Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobaara, and she was confident that her film with Ranbir would go without a hitch. According to the website, “Back in 2012, a little birdie had chirped to Bollywood Life that the actor, who was known as Rockstar, was not too thrilled to share screen time with Sonakshi. Ranbir thought Sona looked older than he did, and he didn’t think their pairing would work. When Ranbir discovered that the film’s producers were determined to star Sonakshi, he turned down the project.
It’s interesting to note that Sonakshi Sinha collaborated on Lootera with Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor’s contemporary. In Anjaana Anjaani and Barfi, Ranbir Kapoor wooed Priyanka Chopra twice in the same period. For those who don’t know, Sonakshi Sinha is 4 years younger than PeeCee. Early in his career, Ranbir dated Bipasha Basu as well. At 44 years old, Bipasha is eight years older than Sonakshi.
Since then, Sonakshi and Ranbir Kapoor have never appeared together on screen. Sonakshi Sinha, who is four years younger than the now-40-year-old Ranbir Kapoor, had dated the 38-year-old Arjun Kapoor in Tevar and the 37-year-old Aditya Roy Kapur in Kalank.
