You may be shocked to learn that members of the royal family must always pack black clothing in their suitcases and that women in the family must never wear open shoes outside. As it turns out, the British royal family is bound by a variety of laws we were unaware of.

1. No jeans allowed.

Only members of the royal family are allowed to wear jeans to casual events. Meghan, for example, wore a pair of jeans to a polo match. They’re often required to wear them when walking their dogs or doing other activities that necessitate a casual appearance.

2. Boys must always wear shorts.

The royal family’s young boys are only allowed to wear shorts until they are deemed old enough. It’s known as “breaching.” They must wear them until they are eight years old, after which they are permitted to wear trousers. It may also be due to the fact that wearing trousers is considered “middle class” by the royals.

3. They always have to carry black attire.

Royals are required to pack black clothing in their luggage whenever they fly. The explanation for this is very tragic. They must be prepared in the event that a member of the family passes away. This is because, when Elizabeth II learned of her father’s death in 1952, she was in Kenya, and when she returned to London, she had to wait for a mourning outfit to be sent to her before she could leave the plane.

4. No open-toe shoes are allowed.

The royals don’t wear open-toed shoes because they’re too casual. They must still wear closed shoes while they are out serving the family or performing official engagements.

5. The hair must remain a natural colour.

The royals’ hair should be as natural as possible at all times. It’s not a good idea for a family member to dye their hair a wild colour — it’s just not a choice for them. It should also be tidy and well-maintained.

6. Ladies can’t take off their coats.

Royal women are not permitted to remove their coats because it is considered unladylike. That’s why the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, would never do anything like this. However, if she is hot and needs to remove a layer of clothing to cool down, she must do so away from any cameras.

7. Gloves are a must.

When the queen goes out, she almost always wears gloves. This is a positive thing! Gloves were once a tradition that has faded over time, but they were once worn by all women. Today, the queen continues the practice because it protects her from germs and she feels they’re fashionable.

She must stand out from the crowd for this reason. This way, she won’t be misidentified, and when people see her, they’ll know it’s the queen they saw!

9. Not everyone can wear a tiara.

A tiara is not worn by any woman in the royal family. The queen, on the other hand, still borrows them, as she did for Meghan Markle’s wedding. This isn’t to suggest Meghan should wear a tiara whenever she wants. Tiaras are only worn by married women or princesses by birth. They will wear them to white-tie events after they get married.
