Shahid Kapoor is an incredibly talented Bollywood actor who has only gotten better with age.
Shahid has played practically every part under the sun since his debut in 2003’s Ishq Vishk, with performances in Haider, Kaminey, Kabir Singh, and Udta Punjab gaining him praise from both fans and critics.
However, he’s also notorious for turning down a number of large Bollywood films that went on to do quite well at the box office.
Let’s take a look at a few of them.
The film is widely regarded as one of the films that catapulted Ranbir Kapoor to stardom.
In the film, Ranbir played a disturbed rockstar, and it has since gained a cult following.
According to sources, Shahid was first approached about the film by Imtiaz Ali, who gave him the option of choosing between two scripts: Jab We Met and Rockstar.
Unfortunately, according to rumours, he could only do one, and we know which one he chose.
Rang De Basanti
Rang De Basanti is considered one of Bollywood’s most groundbreaking films.
The film is a fan favourite since it stars Aamir Khan, Siddharth, Sharman Joshi, R Madhvan, Atul Kulkarni, Kunal Kapoor, Alice Patten, Kirron Kher, and Soha Ali Khan.
Shahid, on the other hand, was given the role of Siddharth in the film before declining it.
Shahid expressed his regret over the mistake in an interview with Neha Dhupia. “I’m sorry I didn’t participate in the film. They wanted me to portray Siddharth in the film. I’d sobbed and liked the script when reading it, but I couldn’t make time for it “Shahid stated.
Bang Bang was a Bollywood knockoff of Tom Cruise’s Knight And Day, but that didn’t stop movie from being a box office success.
The film, which starred Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif, was a great hit, but did you know that director Siddharth Anand contacted Shahid for the role of Hrithik?
According to a report in the TOI, Shahid declined the assignment.
Okay! Raanjhanaa continues to divide fans’ opinions, but it did well at the box office when it was released.
The film, which starred Sonam Kapoor, Dhanush, and Abhay Deol, was an instant smash.
While it may seem strange to believe, according to rumours, Dhanush’s role was first offered to Shahid, who turned it down.
Shuddh Desi Romance
Shuddh Desi Romance, a film starring late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, was well-received by critics.
According to sources, Shahid was the first to be given the film, but he turned it down for whatever reason. Shahid’s career trajectory could have taken a drastically different path if he had made different decisions.
He is, however, still a tremendously good actor who has been on a tear, producing hit after smash. He’ll next be seen in Jersey, a sports film.
Let’s hope he continues to pick up fantastic scripts in the future!
